Agency-heavy staffing with poor communication and little job security - Temporary Agency Staff Emma Employee Review

Pros

Brand recognition Customers generally positive about the product Flexible agency work in theory

Cons

Store staff are not direct employees and are largely hired via agencies, which creates a lack of job security and clarity around rights. Head office (based in Lisbon) feels very disconnected from day-to-day store operations and the realities of retail floor work in the UK. Agency staff are not treated as part of the team and are often spoken to without respect for the role or contribution they make. Decisions such as rota changes can be made suddenly and without discussion, leaving workers with little notice and no opportunity to plan financially. There is no clear or consistent process for feedback or performance management for agency staff. Overall, agency workers can feel disposable rather than valued, more like temporary cover than people keeping the business running.
