Pros
Most people are great to work with, free snacks, good insurance, occasional dogs in the office, drink from the firehouse mentality means learning a lot of new skills in a broad range of areas - perhaps good for someone unsure of what they want to do with their career and looking for 1-2 years of experience,
Cons
It's difficult to get to the office, it is accessible only by an inconsistent bus (SL2) or by car (parking is over $300 even after whatever reimbursement the company offers). The surrounding area is extremely expensive. The scientists are underpaid and overworked. The overall financial health and future of the company is not good. There have been many rounds of layoffs with no warning given and there is a constant feeling of anxiety throughout the company due to this. No 401k matching is offered, and approval is needed for the "unlimited" PTO (none of the employees take enough). Current management requires a 4-day in office work week from 9-5 regardless of how difficult it is to get to the office. Overall, poor morale and high turnover. The company is a shell of what it once was, almost all of the original groundbreaking employees have left or were laid off. There are so so many problems. I would not suggest taking any job with this company if you appreciate your sanity.
