Pros

Mission: The core concept of the product and the company's mission is genuinely compelling and motivating. Team: Many individual contributors are smart, dedicated, and working incredibly hard to make the product succeed.

Cons

Unpaid Commission/Compensation: This is the most critical issue. I was not paid the full commission owed for the month of my departure. Furthermore, the company demonstrated systemic issues with calculating and correctly paying commission, especially during periods of employment transition. This failure to honor compensation is grossly unprofessional, but im not surprised. Leadership and Strategy: Executive leadership appears to lack a clear, long-term strategic vision, resulting in constant pivots and organizational churn. This lack of direction creates immense instability and uncertainty for employees. High Turnover/Burnout: The culture is defined by extremely high pressure and unrealistic expectations driven by poor planning. The frequent, highly visible job postings are not evidence of growth, but rather a constant backfilling due to severe employee burnout and high turnover. Many colleagues (including myself) left to prioritize their mental health. Promises vs. Reality: There is a significant disconnect between what is promised to new hires regarding culture and stability, and the stressful reality of daily operations.

Pros

Other thoughtful, smart employees who are generous with their time and expertise.

Cons

Management and founders just do not have what it takes to succeed doing this type of development; they constantly chase the next thing, are always creating something that they think customers want, and do not have a thoughtful, overarching strategy that makes sense. The benefits are horrible; the worst insurance I've ever had. There is no 401k match; they want to be a tech company, but do not have a solid method for treating employees as valuable, and thinking of how to use the intelligence of others to get ahead. The smart, solid people who have worked at EvenUp have all left. They also treat their Legal Operations team terribly; turnover there is so high. They manage to keep getting funding because they lie. The backend of the products is held together by glue and tape. The good engineers and other product people have all left; the customers of this company are getting sold a faulty product that will break, and they don't know it because they're lawyers, not tech people. The actual product people buy is terrible; EvenUp has no idea what they're doing from the demand side of things, and now they're a system of work, which makes no sense. Stay away; this is not a good place to have a job.
