Pros

Good tips, base pay only $16 plus $5-6 tips per hour. Benefits are good as you need them often. Management can be supportive if your requests are reasonable. 15 vacation days, 2 Evo days, and 8 sick days. Nice environment, floors in the Telus tower. Most people are good and hanging out with them is fun and easy. Very stable as a full time employee.

Cons

Bonus is very difficult to achieve, especially with the Roulette game. If a game presenter makes two mistakes, he lost $800 bonuses. They raised bonus standard for the Burnaby studio to increase level of difficulty. A lot of good people left because without bonuses and after tax deduction, the monthly salary is only about $2600. There is also performance requirement that is factored into calculating bonuses. If the evaluator gives you below 90%, your bonus is gone as well. Management is ok most of the times, most of them began as gp, so they know how to accommodate to gps' requests. Another downside is the overnight shifts. Nights are cold and long shifts makes you uncomfortable. The company didn't pay extra for the shift and are harsh on you if you make a mistakes. Of course, there is favoritism going on all the time. They like you they treat you better. The worst thing is the overnight shift gang group. There are three women who form a small gossip group that constantly attack and judge others. They holds certain power over others because they do overnight shifts on a regular basis, so other gps can do less. Almost everyone is very careful when speaking to them. They are rude and loud and can just throw nasty comments about you all of the sudden. They got into verbal arguments/fights with more than three people already and kinda forced them to quit the job. They are doubled face gagsters who grab every opportunity to bully others, yet they think they are entitled to do it. They are desperate for money so they are gonna be there for a long time, any future employees should avoid them like plaque.

Pros

Supportive coworkers…interesting line of work. Okay salary, overtime guaranteed if needed.

Cons

Very strict, can be exhausting especially overnights. At times could deal with changes and break pushbacks mid shift. Feels like nothing is really planned ahead of time and is done on a whim. Prone to being understaffed overnight and leads to burnout quickly especially during holidays. Strict when it comes to your mistakes, but not their own, for example I was relieved 15 minutes into a 30 minute break, and informed there wasn’t anything they could do about it nor could I get my full 30 at that time and was expected to come back after 15 minutes passed and wait for my next break, yet when I arrived 5 minutes late from a break for the bathroom, I was written up. Disorganized. Don’t recommend overnight unless it’s your cup of tea.
