Pros

You might learn a thing or two but you could also learn the same things or more in a better environment so it's not much of a consolation prize!

Cons

Many cons: CEO doesn't respect his employees at all. He thinks his intellect/decision-making skills are a cut above everyone else's including his VP-level staff Most senior management leave due to a dislike of the CEO's micromanagement and undermining of decisions Male-only upper management circle. In fact, there are very few women in this organization. A lot of politics and back-stabbing due to exhaustion, and insecurity, creating a toxic environment Everyone reporting to the CEO is scrambling to make his unrealistic deadlines, resulting in long hours for the entire staff and an unhappy work culture Very few customers after 4 years in the making. Customers are almost always pissed off too as they were promised gold and are receiving a lump of coal as a substitute Unstable financial state with just minuscule revenue. Always looking for more investors. Constant reorgs to keep the costs down as a result Understaffed and underpaid in 80-90% of the cases. This is more like a sweatshop than a start-up. Most people leave this company angry. They are either leaving in fear of getting pushed out or cheated on their severance packages and have to seek legal help

Pros

Strong opportunity to work on practical AI projects with real business impact. I got hands-on exposure to LAGs, multimodal RAG, production engineering, and cross-functional collaboration. The work was meaningful and there was good room to learn quickly and take ownership.

Cons

As an intern, the time goes by very quickly, so it can feel like there is never enough time to explore everything in depth.
