Pros

Being a part of the exciting Virtual Reality and gaming industry.

Cons

Employees did not get paid on time (sometimes MONTHS late), strange hiring decisions (hiring teenagers as team managers), multiple employees that had sacrificed for the company were terminated at will, large projects were chosen that were financially devastating to the company with no regard for employee workload or pay. Company mission and objectives unclear.

Pros

The company was relatively free in requirements. Didn't much care about qualifications as long as you could do your job.

Cons

Upper management is twisted, there doesn't seem to be another way to say it. The toxic culture they created (at least during my time there) was insane to witness. Hiring senior personnel who actively lied about former employees in order to justify firing them, manipulating employees fear of poverty, lying about working conditions, and making people work injured. When I worked at Exit I met people who went to bat for the company every day. In reward for their loyalty, the company hurt them and drove them away in droves. At one period we weren't paid for 2 months as the company struggled with its finances while being owned and run by multi-millionaires. We were treated as independent contractors in spite of being fully under the company's scheduling and direction. It was billed as a casual gig, and the owners said they didn't want us to "rely on this for income", but the hours were just numerous enough and so erratic that you couldn't possibly get a second job. Working here was an emotional and logistical hell, with lower management often paying out of pocket for things (per diems on trips, hotel cost for the team, etc.) that the company should have paid for. It's been a long time since I worked there. Maybe it's gotten better. I wouldn't risk it. Unless they've cleaned house so thoroughly as to have fired all the senior management and sold the company, then the rot is at the core.
