Pros

I had a genuinely fantastic time working at Family Pathways. The manager was an extremely kind woman who cares for her employees and is very understanding that employee professional growth comes at different paces. They make sure to give you frequent breaks, which you will miss if you ever move onto another job that takes an "eat while you work" attitude. We ran a ton of programs that made you feel like you were contributing something worthwhile at the end of the day. If it wasn't to help women escape abusive situations -- it was running youth safety programs, senior assistance, or running a food shelf in the back. You will never have to close alone which is a blessing.

Cons

Each day there are different specials to pitch to people walking in the door, which can be a bit bamboozling when other seasonal specials are being run in tandem next to them. It's pretty common for customers to get more agitated than they normally would in a corporate retail setting, just because they typically tend to equate thrift stores to glorified garage sales and think that Family Pathways shouldn't be picky about prices/accepting certain donations/etc. Closing time is a 15 minute window, so you might feel overwhelmed at first counting your till and Z-ing out your register within' the allowed time frame.
