Pros

This position has much more flexibility than previous jobs. As long as you get your work done and meet your billable hours target, you're good. Billable hours targets are easy to meet. Hours are tracked per 6-month period, so the ebbs and flows of work hours shouldn't be a concern. Like any consulting firm, we see a variety of Salesforce work for all kinds of clients. This can seem stressful at first because you are often working on something new. But it does keep things interesting and it gets better after about 6 months. My colleagues and managers are always supportive and helpful. I don't feel micromanaged here at all. I think the hiring team does a good job of hiring talented, positive people and avoiding toxicity.

Cons

Some may not enjoy being part of a consulting firm because there are always new solutions to learn and new Salesforce orgs to get accustomed to. Because of this, the first 6 months or so can be difficult with a steep learning curve. All roles are fully remote. Again, some may not enjoy this. It takes discipline to manage your time remotely across different projects. The company is on the small side, so benefits are a bit more expensive than what you might have at a larger company. We are growing though, so expect that to change as the company gets larger.

Pros

The recruiting team is good at hiring teammates who are talented but more importantly, great people to work alongside. I don't see any toxicity here. We work on a wide variety of projects for clients of all sizes and types. This keeps things interesting. The company seems to be growing.

Cons

Managing your time well is a must, or you will burn out quickly. Teammates are quick to assist and offer advice, but it's ultimately on you. This can be a shock to those new to consulting.

Pros

- Great entry level experience for Salesforce consulting - Delivery habits are lean and will be used well after departure from FSM - Some of the most competent people I’ve ever worked with in consulting

Cons

- Implementation Specialists (who are our support) are often under-qualified and frequently high maintenance (if not liabilities) on projects. - FSM “culture” is a combo of megachurch evangelism + “tech bro” - Salaries have a myopic, Alabama concept of market value. Seriously some of the most low-balled salaries in the industry. - Their professed desire for you to “be happy” in your job is FSM’s code language for “if we think you’re not happy, we’ll fire you for it.” - Burnout is high but few communicate it for the fear of expressing any unhappiness. It’s well known you can very suddenly be fired for it. - The longest standing employees in higher management often act like they’re some kind of acquired taste (with laid back vibes) when it’s simply that they are uncomfortable with being disagreed with.
