Pros
• Get VC on your resume • You can make the job sound really good in an interview in the future • The people in the office are generally nice • There are some free snacks
Cons
• Lower pay than In-N-Out (yes, really) • No benefits for full time employees • Very high turnover at all levels of the company • I didn't trust the company on a variety of topics, including for them to follow through on any promises of future employment opportunities • They say they are a Silicon Valley VC to try to attract foreign workers, then when there is visa issue, they leave the employee on their own to figure out the legal issues • The management is sales focused, not investment focused, and will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to work there • The sales focus extends to the overall strategy of getting investors and pocketing management fees instead of trying to make money on investments • I don't see the business model allowing the company to last long term. The Japanese companies they dupe into getting money from will eventually get tired of low returns/no exits and the funds will be inactive. • The only VC I've ever heard of that was investigated by the Department of Labor (this has been handled but it indicates the character of senior management)
