Pros
Inclusive, progressive, relaxed culture.
The ecology team exude genuine passion, enthusiasm and knowledge for/of the natural environment and all share the ultimate goal of enhancing, restoring and protecting it to the best of their ability.
They are a really awesome group of people to work with.
The variety of the work is also a massive pro, different projects one week to the next. One week you'll be conducting fish surveys on a beautiful chalk stream, the next you could be doing a water vole survey or seine netting a huge lake!
Cons
The main one would have to be the large amount of driving/travelling we have to do different sites/projects. We operate across the country but are based in the south, this can result in a lot of very early starts/late finishes with a lot of driving in between.
We also stay away a lot which is nice when it's all confirmed/booked in advance with due time to prepare, but due to the fluidity of the work, things can change at the drop of a hat and you may be suddenly staying away for a week on very short notice.
