Pros

- Hybrid-working - Some of the staff here are awesome to work with

Cons

- CEO who has no idea what he's doing and micromanages every product - Company that focuses too much on its legacy instead of keeping up with what fans actually want - Stifling for creatives - Staff turnover is ludicrously high and HR doesn't even bother to fill the gaps. Look forward to more responsibilities outside of your job scope being shoved onto you with no compensation

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We’re pleased our hybrid setup works well for you and have had positive experiences with some of your colleagues - that part is pleasing to hear! That said, we’re concerned by the issues you’ve raised. While some flexibility in a start-up environment/small company in an emergent industry comes with the territory, taking on responsibilities materially outside your job scope without your buy-in is far from what we seek to do. As to filling resource gaps, it’s important to clarify that is a collaborative responsibility driven by company leadership and business priorities - not a decision made unilaterally by "HR" (also noting that's not a term we use internally). People & Culture will of course support these conversations, but it does not independently determine headcount or role assignments. People & Culture also facilitate bi-annual compensation reviews, benchmarked using Mercer data, to ensure our staff are appropriately rewarded for the responsibilities they hold, but again your line manager will be the first port of call for making recommendations in this space, rather than it being a unilateral P&C decision. Most importantly, as the post states you're a current employee, we strongly encourage you to raise any concerns you have internally via the many different options at your disposal (your manager, anonymous Q&A, People & Culture or a conversation with any SLT member). Anonymous posts on a forum like this do very little for us to properly understand your perspective or take meaningful action. These forums also very rarely tend to capture the view of the bulk of employees who are happy, so lose a bit of their credibility as a medium to enact change. We're always open to constructive, respectful feedback - especially when it’s shared with the intent to help improve things for everyone. We’d genuinely welcome a conversation.

Pros

My coworkers in my office were really nice and fun. There was lots to do and never a dull moment.

Cons

Where to start? While everyone in my office respected me and valued my opinion as an intern, many others in the company did not. A particular instance where I was assigned to a project during a conference call, and someone piped up saying that they "didn't want *the intern* to work on that. And that they had *real* professionals to complete that job" comes to mind. That's just once time that this occurred. The company has a small budget and I remember being frequently asked to call companies with software we wanted to use, and lie to them to get extended free trials of the software. It always made me feel terrible. Another budget issue is that this was an unpaid position, and after doing a lot more research into the legality of unpaid internships, this was a HIGHLY illegal practice... Look, maybe this is the right position if you are seriously passionate about eSports and there are things you are willing to compromise on. This job did open a lot of doors for me and I am grateful for it. And maybe things have changed since I've worked there. But after the experience I had, I would seriously caution potential interns to think twice about taking a position there.

Thanks for leaving your feedback. Having joined the business to lead People & Culture in August 2018, I can say with complete confidence Fnatic has not had an unpaid intern position at any point since then. From a personal perspective, I was not aware of internships prior to then that may have gone unpaid - I'm sorry to hear if this was your experience however and hope it is comforting to you that this not a practice that has continued. Fnatic has established a great record of bringing new talent into our business via internships, allowing people from a range of different backgrounds the opportunity to learn from our talented staff and have the chance to work on real world tasks. The vast majority of interns who have come into our business over the course of the last three years have successfully gone on to secure permanent roles in our business too - so to that end I would strongly contest your view that Fnatic isn't a great place to kickoff a career. While I appreciate your feedback also may be dated related to your experience on the conference call, thank you for being sufficiently brave to raise this, and I trust this isn't an experience that would be reflected in modern-day Fnatic. Best of luck in your career beyond Fnatic, and we hope that the positives you took from your time with the business hold you in good stead for whatever you do next. Brad
