Pros

Foundation has a great team of dedicated (albeit extremely overworked) teachers and staff. I've met wonderful and smart colleagues. The students are wonderful and try very hard at everything they do.

Cons

There is absolutely no work/life balance for teachers or support staff. As another reviewer pointed out, you are expected to be on-call 24/7 and your personal life comes secondary to the needs of the administration (notice I didn't say the students). Several staff have been fired because they pushed-back and stated that their families or going to church were a priority over work, although they worked 70 hours per week already. If you disagree with the cult-like mentality, you risk being fired. The senior leadership is just awful. The senior leadership team doesn't trust each other and they have had to pay thousands of dollars to hire outside consultants to resolve the conflicts, with absolutely no success. This mistrust trickles down to the support staff, and adds to the stress of the environment and creates lots of cliques. You will notice that there are very few veteran teachers who have taught elsewhere. I've seen how a current teacher is told to train a newly hired teacher. After a few weeks, the senior teacher is fired and replaced by the new one - this is how they replace staff. The staff has a horrible retention rate - as much as 40% of the staff resign or are fired each year. Senior management gossips a lot about staff to other staff - it's very unprofessional. There is a TON of nepotism and favoritism in the school, and it all starts from the Senior Management Team. If you disagree with a belief system, you will be targeted and fired. Experienced staff don't usually make it long in the organization.

Pros

The teachers I worked with directly were genuinely dedicated to their craft and their students.

Cons

- Every restructuring sent me back to square one trying to figure out a new framework, and I'd barely get comfortable before the next one would hit. - I spent months helping implement an initiative that completely disappeared when new priorities came from above, so all that time just went nowhere. - The constant reorganizations created this pattern where I'd finally understand how something worked and then it would change again. - Programs I'd helped develop would get scrapped or redirected every time leadership decided to restructure, which meant months of progress just evaporated. - Decisions came down from above without any input from people actually working in the buildings, so we just had to figure it out as we went. - Most of my time and energy went into adapting to whatever new structure was being rolled out instead of actually doing meaningful work.
