Pros

- Awesome first step for anyone looking to get entry-level experience - Willing to train entry-level paras - Depending on your team, there is a good community-oriented environment. - Where there is a huge firm-wide deadline to meet, the Firm often will purchase breakfast (coffee/donuts), lunch and dinner for those participating in the project. - Random free gifts (snack bags, aprons, jackets, etc.) - New COVID sick leave (up to 80 hrs) - Random days off/half days. - To my knowledge, no layoffs due to COVID - Remote work for nearly all FT employees

Cons

- Once you've been there for a while, the pay can seem mediocre. - Can be a bit bureaucratic (jumping through hoops just to find an answer to a simple question) - Work-life balance is a challenge - If you produce good work, they will put more work on you without a pay increase or promotion to reflect new responsibilities. - Feels like there might be an unspoken reality that paras will leave so no need to promote them or incentivize them to stay - You only get your full 401(k) match if you stay with the company for 5 years.

Pros

Decent overtime pay. I also had a decent training/onboarding experience, but this was not the norm.

Cons

Exploitative, 80+ hour work weeks, 2am messages from attorneys, burn-out model for paralegals and associates (scoop them up after BA or JD and overwork them until they quit), misrepresent case load during interview by 50% of total, low ceiling for non-attorney career advancement. Have an exit plan.
