      Pros

      Work from home. Lots of clients. "Freedom" but no direction.

      Cons

      No guidance or rules on how reports should be handled, yet you will be reprimanded for not following unsaid rules. Where are they or are you making them up as you go? I inherited garbage work and was expected to make up for it above and beyond my normal workload, without any extra compensation. Apparently I did it wrong, but if specifications were given from the outset I wouldn't have had to redo work. Over and over. Zero training or support. Zero appreciation from clients or management. I wasted a year. I knew within my first two weeks and I should've listened to my gut.

      -Tons of ability to learn about various industries in a short amount of time -Ability to work on a wide range of projects it would take years to touch as internal HR -Great management team who is focused on building a team of experts

      -Can be tough transition from internal HR to consulting, it requires self discipline

      Having autonomy to do a TON OF WORK

      Cons

      No one cares about you, you are a just a number to get them to a higher bottom line number. Went to a dodgers game and was so excited to meet the CEO, spoke to him for legit 25 seconds before he walked away to someone "more important". They have their "favorites" and anyone else is whatever to them.
