LACKS DIVERSITY - Engineering Gecko Robotics Employee Review

One of the most uncomfortable places to work as a person of color. I left a Fortune 500 company and took over a 50% pay cut because I wanted to be around my family. Even moved them from another state. Never happened. Lacks diversity. They have a few minorities that they give access to make them feel like they belong but have no managerial position. It is a buddy system. They have this clique among themselves that they try to maintain power. You don't need an engineering degree, background, or experience to be a manager as long as you belong to the clique. An employee forgot I was in the truck while we were on the job and was more concerned about confederate statues being taken down than performing his duties. He then told me to go and get into another truck when he realized I was in the truck. My manager called me and asked me about the situation and pretty much buried it. He later informed me that I didn't take criticism well. I just laughed and shook my head. CEO has a great vision but is surrounded by guys that want to maintain a white power structure. Poor management structure. 0% Job security There is no separation of powers or checks and balances between HR and managers. In other words, The HR department holds no bearings on any type of complaints that arise within the departments and can't even secure your job. Pretty much your manager can discriminate, harass and retaliate without any consequences. Most of the managers have this white supremacy mentality. If you are not white, you are not doing it right . Few Managers have 0 field engineering experience and, in all honesty, have no business managing anyone. My manager harassed me even had ops watch me while I worked and told me that I needed to ask for permission to use the restroom from the ops guys. Of course, they told me. FYI they are looking for a way to get rid of you. Later I was told I needed to take a drug test; needless to say, I was singled out to take four drug tests in a month, and I am not even in Ops. I PASSED ALL!!!
