Pros
Firm culture is extremely supportive, never feels competitive. Everyone from staff to partners is always willing to help out or explain something. This firm really values their employees and is always open to input. Job specific evals are provided to staff and seniors throughout the year, as well as mid-year evals. There are also anonymous upwards evals once a year where staff/seniors provide feedback to those who supervise them. The firm conducts an anonymous company survey each year as well to seek employee input on firm culture, etc. Gilbert Associates is also very good about staying up to date on the ever changing regulations, something that can be a challenge for smaller firms. Partners and managers are experts in their industries and take the time to research any issues that they are not familiar with. Management is constantly looking for ways to improve the firm. Vacation time is good, and better yet, people actually take it. No one is expected to check their email on vacation. Managers and partners get sabbatical. Busy season is still busy, but it's nothing compared to Big 4.
Cons
Occasional firm drama, nothing too major. But if a new hire gets on people's bad side when they first start it can spread quickly via gossip and be hard to overcome. But for the most part a caring and understanding group of people.
