Pros

It’s a really, really cool mission.

Cons

This company is an absolute nightmare to work for, and the CEO is the devil incarnate. She masquerades as some kind of savior, but in reality, she's a narcissistic tyrant only interested in feeding her own ego and climbing the social ladder. The way she treats her employees is deplorable. She acts like providing these annual retreats, even at a staggering cost of over $60,000, gives her the right to abuse and demean us. Just because she pays us, she believes it entitles her to treat us however she wants. The sales team is constantly stressed about their commissions, the operations team is treated like garbage (which is why she no longer has an OPs team) and the tech department is ruthlessly overworked and underpaid. The HR department consisted of just one person, who was driven out by the CEO’s toxic behavior. There’s no one left to advocate for employees or hold her accountable. Instead, she surrounds herself with a team of sycophantic, underqualified contractors who do nothing but stroke her ego and shield her from the truth. It's infuriating to see her waste money on extravagant retreats while refusing to allocate the necessary resources to each department. She constantly cuts positions without replacing them and takes away crucial support that employees need to succeed. Why do we need these expensive retreats when so many people are under qualified in their positions? Her model seems to be to hire Gen Z employees then underpay them. There is zero opportunity for development. Her executive assistant is another victim of this toxic environment, constantly walking on eggshells to avoid the CEO's wrath. The verbal and mental abuse toward her is unacceptable and adds to the overall tension in the workplace. The cruelty of the CEO knows no bounds—she even verbally and mentally abused her executive team. The VP of Ops, Head of Growth, Head of Product, and Head of HR have all been driven out by her toxic behavior, yet she has the audacity to blame everyone but herself for the constant turnover. On top of that, the CEO is a raging racist, openly hostile toward white women and Jewish men within the organization. She hides behind the struggles of being a Black woman, constantly whining about how hard it is to raise money because she is black, when the real reason is that she's running this company into the ground with her terrible leadership and lack of integrity. The favoritism and manipulation are so thick you can cut it with a knife. She has clear "golden child" employee and contractors that she showers with praise while pitting everyone else against each other. It's a nightmare of a work environment, and I can't wait to get the hell out of this place. Seriously, do not believe the hype. This company has a great concept, but it's being run into the ground by a narcissistic, abusive, and morally bankrupt CEO. There are so many other organizations out there doing the same thing with infinitely more integrity. Avoid this place like the plague.

Pros

In theory, it is nice to work for a company that is doing some good (when it actually works).

Cons

There is a reason the entire Operations department quit within a year. This company is a mess! There is no real organization and none of the senior leadership knows what they are doing. They are actively running this company into the ground. Working with the CEO is like walking on eggshells. You never know what version of her may lash out at you at any given time. There is a reason they can't seem to hold on to employees. I can only speak from the Operations standpoint, but I will add that I consistently heard the sales people complain about late and/or missing commissions as well.
