Pros

Good pay and health care insurance

Cons

Understaffed yet refuses to hire new employees. 1/3 of their staff are consultants. HR lied in interview. They stated they would hire 2000 people in next year, But afterwards learnt only plan to hire 100 people.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We want to be clear that the statements referenced in this review regarding hiring commitments are inaccurate. At no point has GreenShield communicated or represented plans to hire the volume of employees cited here, either in interviews or elsewhere. We take transparency seriously and do not misrepresent workforce plans to candidates or employees. Like many large organizations, we regularly assess our workforce mix to ensure we have the right capabilities in place to deliver for our clients and members. This includes a combination of permanent employees and external resources, based on business needs, timing, and specialized expertise. Decisions related to hiring, resourcing, and training are made deliberately and communicated through appropriate internal channels. We acknowledge the feedback regarding training and capacity and continue to invest in onboarding, learning, and development as we evolve. However, we do not accept claims that question the integrity of our leaders or suggest intentional dishonesty. We encourage employees with concerns or questions about resourcing, workload, or growth opportunities to raise them directly with their people leader or People & Culture so they can be addressed constructively and based on facts.

Pros

GreenShield is one of the few organizations where purpose genuinely drives decision-making. The mission of improving health outcomes and advancing Better Health for All is woven into the culture, not simply used in marketing materials. The people are highly collaborative, values-driven, and committed to making a meaningful impact on Canadians' health and well-being. Leadership encourages innovation, continuous learning, and employee growth while fostering an environment where diverse perspectives are welcomed. One of GreenShield’s greatest strengths is its People and Culture team. The HR function operates as a true strategic partner to the business while maintaining a deep commitment to employee experience and well-being. The team is progressive, caring, and focused on creating an environment where people can do their best work. From leadership development and talent programs to wellness initiatives and culture-building efforts, the People and Culture team consistently demonstrates what modern, purpose-driven HR should look like. The organization is also undergoing an exciting transformation, creating opportunities to shape strategy, influence change, and contribute to work that has a measurable social impact. Employees are encouraged to give back to their communities, and there is a strong emphasis on wellness, flexibility, and supporting the whole person.

Cons

As with any organization navigating significant growth and transformation, priorities can evolve quickly, which can occasionally create ambiguity or require teams to adapt at a rapid pace.
