Pros

Consultants are nice and in the same boat as you. Collaborative and young

Cons

Management changed, billable hours is what's important now, you get promoted if you bill and say yes to whatever. Too much criticism from management, they are never happy they want you to do and be everything in the same time instead of using your skills they try to change you into someone else. If you are free you can be asked to do anything. Salary is low and no bonus, no RSP's. They are pushing really hard for in office and tell you that they keep track of people that show in the office. Monthly meetings are terrible praising people left and right for whatever and you get nothing for it. Micromanagement is rising. Most project managers have a huge ego or control freaks and they have too many projects they got no time for you you just have to do what they say the way they say it and each one of them works differently and you never know what's going to hit you. No wonder a lot of people left and they can't find people to hire they are just like a lot of other consulting compagnies now.

Pros

Fun, energetic teams, challenging projects

Cons

I had no complaint about Gurus until they started suing everyone who decided to take a job at other companies. I know of 7 people who are being sued. Mind you this is not for any misconduct on the part of the 7 people, but just because they left Gurus to work at other companies. If you consider working with them, I would recommend that you ask to see ANY and ALL paperwork they ask you to sign. Pay careful attention to the non-compete agreement, because they will use it against you when you leave and attempt to prevent you from getting another job in the area of your expertise. If you can live with that, then it’s a good company.

Thank you for your feedback. Firstly, we appreciate you saying that we are “fun” and have “energetic teams” – we pride ourselves on our dynamic culture and high level of collaboration in all of our projects. In terms of legalities, our paperwork is standard for our industry. After all, restrictive covenants are not unusual in a competitive technology-based vertical like the one we work in. There is no clause that restricts former employees from using their skills to earn a living outside of a direct competitor. But we certainly encourage our employees to carefully read any and all paperwork, as it is a best practice at any company. It also allows an opportunity for an in-depth discussion between employer-employee, and might help clear things up at an early stage to avoid confusion at a later point, which seems to be the case here. I encourage any and all interested parties to contact us at hr@gurussolutions.com with any questions or issues they might have.
