Pros

Great customers (participants), friendly and loving.

Cons

Horrible rude snobby staff. Cockroaches and flies in group homes. Grubby floors. Customers don’t get recommended sleep, yawn all day every day. Coordinates don’t care about anyone, overload of shifts. 8 hour shifts for weeks at a time. Non verbal customers are treated like objects rather than the people they are.

Pros

The work you do helps the 3,000 people with disabilities the organisation supports and the 600 people with a disability the organisation employees; They are competitive in the salary sacrifice/taxation intricacies associated with similar roles in the not for profit industry The organisation on the whole i.e. below the executive level leadership team are passionate, committed and selfless.

Cons

Very little recognition of the hard work that is done day in and day out in the trenches by the leadership team. An increasing sense of 'one rule for you & one rule for them' be it the IT gadgets that are 'L Team only' territory or the quarterly off site L Team forums which appear to be an opportunity for the L team to continue treading water while patting each other on the back. The payroll department is understaffed, and while they try their best the complexity of salary packaging often means this crucial benefit is poorly handled. Some of the internal cost structures are difficult to rationalise, making it particularly difficult for a number of operations to remain financially viable There is extremely high turn over at middle & senior management level.
