Pros

Great company culture, everyone seems open and nice

Cons

Limited clientele, old fashioned approach to new business, small business so if they lose clients it may have a huge impact on the company.

Pros

They have worked hard to create a genuinely healthy culture with a strong work-life balance. Good people trying to do good work.

Cons

They performed a large round of layoffs in May 2024, which will likely affect work and new positions through the rest of 2024

Pros

Hager Sharp is a full-service integrated communications and marketing firm that focuses on public interest / public sector issues and organizations. I deeply appreciate that my colleagues have a true passion for their work. And having worked in other PR agencies, I love that Hager Sharp works ONLY for organizations that focus on public interest. While we have deep roots in federal government contracts and projects, we are also growing our work for nonprofits and foundations. It is gratifying to see our growth in this area, as I think these organizations offer a lot of creative opportunities. So, there are plenty of opportunities to build skills in a variety of areas, particularly in digital strategy, outreach, and measurement. Because we are employee-owned (100%!), employees have a strong stake in client service and in the management of the company. In particular, over the past several months, we have encouraged and provided outlets for increased staff input. In addition to a strong culture defined by respect and collaboration, Hager Sharp offers excellent benefits, including equity in the company through the ESOP. All in all, it's a great place to work!

Cons

As with all companies, from time to time we have misconceptions circulating through a rumor mill. This can have a dragging effect on morale and culture. I think we've made great strides, especially over the past year, in providing outlets (anonymous and public) for staff input. There really is no need for a rumor mill when the company is transparent, open, and encouraging of diverse viewpoints, which Hager Sharp is.
