Pros

There is a good group of people that work at HomeWorks, and they have all recently bonded over their shared discontent with upper management.

Cons

HomeWorks has seen tremendous and rapid growth over the last few years, however none of that success has translated down to its employees. The profits are widely celebrated, however its on the backs of several high performing employees who always take on more and more responsibility for no additional compensation. There are plenty of great people that work at HomeWorks that really care about doing a good job, but unfortunately they always get the short end of the stick. Everyone's pay is below market value, however the company makes up for it by touting the 'relaxed' work environment. However this has gotten out of hand. Some people refuse to wear shoes in the office (gross), the kitchen is always trashed (brought to you by upper management, but more on them later), and there isn't an ounce of professionalism to be found. The proof is in the office itself; they refuse to spend money on actual whiteboards, instead opting for some cheap alternative which are impossible to erase. All of the furniture is hand-me-downs from Next Step Living, or cheaply built and have given a number of employees cuts and splinters over the years. Upper management does not realize that they have real, live people working for them. They freely change compensation plans (aka pay cuts) to suit their own needs. If you sign up to work at HWE with one compensation plan, expect it to change within the first couple months. However, since the top three in upper management have absolutely zero people skills, there is no negotiating or reasoning with them. Once their minds are made up, it's all over, just hope you're on their good side. One particular individual of the top three has succeeded in driving out several excellent, high performing employees because he is such a horrible person to work with. The people that left consisted of directors, managers and team leads, all of which were regularly harassed and made to feel genuinely uncomfortable. Some feel so uncomfortable that they will not take 1-on-1 meetings with him due to his erratic behavior. The CEO & COO see this happening and have received multiple reports from HR, but they refuse to do anything about it since he is their buddy. This person is only around to make people's lives miserable and let you know that you're not good enough. He once took a nap in a conference room during a power outage when they were forcing people to work in the dark and cold. This is truly a toxic work environment sponsored by those at the top. There are several amazing employees in middle management that are handicapped in their roles due to those above them. Unfortunately for the company, these people will also be leaving the company soon due to treatment from upper management, and especially the individual mentioned above. The positive reviews featured on this website all come from the same time frame in Spring of 2017, when the leadership was instructed to flood the site with phony, positive reviews to combat all of the negativity. Sadly, implementing these band-aid solutions instead of fixing the root of the problems is what will inevitably kill this company, which from the looks of it will be sooner rather than later.

Pros

none at all that I can think of. maybe that it’s remote?

Cons

SEVERELY UNDERSTAFFED, poor pay, NO WORK LIFE BALANCE, JUST RUN DON’T EVEN APPLY. i give this company at least another year, they will not last with the way they’re running things. terrible company and practices, constantly lying to customers. each department has its own set of issues especially the service department is SEVERELY lacking.
