Pros

Opportunity for those less experienced to get hands very dirty with PHP. Most employees are friendly though most appear to be overworked.

Cons

It depends: Probably the worse role is that of a PHP engineer/developer/programmer. The CEO (Peter) is very experienced and talented himself in PHP and is involved in day to day development. Further he believes his way is the only way and scoffs at industry standards set by leaders such as Symfony. For that reason, it is nearly impossible to hit the ground the running - contrary to expectations. The work environment is deceptive; When the offer was made verbally at the end of the interview - the amount stated was in terms of a salary. Albiet a bit low, it was acceptable, as stated. However, first day on the job when papers were signed it became apparent that instead of a salaried job, it is really hourly with strict sign in/sign out requirements, and minimum of 10 hour work days. Probably illegal, and certainly unethical. If you're considering a PHP role.. keep looking. If it a front end developer position; Maybe. It seems that Peter pretty much lets them produce without hovering - I'm assuming because he doesn't know React or JS well enough to overcontrol that side of the house.

Pros

Very laid back environment The non management staff are great and middle management always seem stressed out

Cons

Under paid. The job posting I replied to offered $17 an hour, but when I interviewed they said we start at $13 and then give you a pay bump after 3 months. I worked there for 6 months and did not see an increase. Management is plain unhelpful when it counts. You can ask the front line supervisor for help and you will always get vague answers. I was let go after giving my 2 weeks notice. I had no prior disciplinary issues. It was only because I found a better paying job. The job was advertised as technical support and was really a CSR position mixed with technical support. I am a technician but I spent more time dealing with sales and billing than I did technical issues. Abusive customers whom management are aware of, but they continue to leave the front line people powerless to defend themselves and management will not step in when the clients are being cruel to their support people. Unless you want to be a developer there is no real forward movement in the company. If you want to work in technical support it is impossible to move beyond tier 1 since the majority of their upper tier technicians are remote. My paycheck was constantly late! They would blame their bank if a holiday fell at all during the pay period. They would not even apologize or acknowledge that this happened. You were expected to just deal with it.
