Pros

-You can end up on a good team with a good manager -Product, vision, and goals have improved. There previously was a lot of work being done that was just wasted or didn't end up contributing to generating revenue or retaining customers or anything really. The roadmap is a lot better now. -Smart coworkers -CEO isn't unrealistic about company outlook and numbers. We may set high goals but there are some companies that really try to fluff up their all-hands meetings and revenue numbers, or only focus on positive numbers like growth without acknowledging the immense lack of profitability. Our CEO is very realistic and straightforward. -Benefits are pretty good

Cons

-If you end up on a good team, you'll end up helping other teams put out fires that are out of scope for you and won't get much help from the team responsible -Pay is on the lower side -Promotions and raises are not equal or regular (although an improvement here was just started). There is still a big pay discrepancy amongst engineers of the same level and experience. -"That's how it is at a startup" is used as an excuse way too much (including when talking about pay)

Pros

-Genuinely friendly, feels collaborative rather than transactional, even as an outside contractor -Clear, organized scope of work and easy communication around timelines and deliverables -Feedback is constructive and specific, which makes revisions efficient instead of a guessing game -Meaningful creative latitude rather than rigid micromanagement

Cons

-As a freelancer, you're naturally a bit more removed from internal team rhythms/meetings, just by nature of the engagement type (not a company issue, more a structural reality of contract work) -Project volume/cadence can ebb and flow depending on company priorities, which is typical for any contract relationship rather than specific to Hyperproof

Pros

Great coworkers and driven ICs Ability to contribute to multiple areas

Cons

- leadership lacked vision for long term product differentiation. - morale is low (check employee growth on LI) - you need to stay visible and play the game, your work alone won’t keep you employed, especially in the current AI climate. - outlook isn’t good. It was standard but with AI, that downgrades it more, because expectations for ROI are much higher. - dependent on external governance climate.
