Pros

Continued education is pretty cheap; like less than $100 for a class. 5-year paid apprenticeship. You learn on the job and get paid a certain percentage of what a licensed Journeyman gets paid. They pay you to learn for the first 4 years as long as you pass your tests. Insurance is fantastic and you don't have to pay for it, the contractor does. Work is good and depending on the site, overtime is available for all who want it.

Cons

Can be very hard work at times. Work fluctuates based on the task. Hours can be tough. Contractors can be very hard to work with.
