The last market unit head then (after maybe 4 changes of MU head within my stay) was not the right fit for the role - no prior experience deep enough in the region, did not know what business planning is, covered himself more than anything.
I remember him saying this once to me during a trade show when he was an AE the year end before I left, "If I'm asked to leave, I will pull the entire market unit down to drown with me." I knew the region was going south at an unstoppable speed.
You don't just dump someone from sky (it's not fair to the selected one too) and make him a MU head, and expect him to lead. It takes certain drive, characteristics, business acumen and a strategic mindset to map everything together.
