Pros

Good people, good seniority. You have the opportunity to use top-tier technologies.

Cons

They have this really bad practice of doing one layoff per year, saying it's an exception because of the market and so on. After each one, they support the "survivors" by booking special motivational calls, like therapy meetings; everyone is sad, life continues, etc. At the end, you will understand that it's the only way they know how to do business. Achieve market-urgent goals, then fire people; they contract new ones, new goals, new layoffs, and so on. No matter your performance, the years you worked there, your experience, or your recent goals there. You constantly live with uncertainty about the future. You don't know if you will be part of the next group to get out.

Pros

- Remote first - Kind coworkers - Fun brand

Cons

My entire career has been built on digital transformation/migration projects, but IPSY showed me a new kind of chaos. A very immature project management function coupled with constant rebrands, shifting priorities, and last-minute legal changes made it feel like they were trying to rebuild the car while it's already rolling downhill. Still a spreadsheet place. Product requirements constantly got buried in Slack. (Why are we so afraid of email?) Disjointed processes and minimal communication to contractors. (It's often the norm to treat contractors like secondary citizens, but most places will at least communicate info relevant to your job). Seems like a bad idea to lay off tech team members midway through a delayed transformation project.
