To be as honest as I can with you, I'm going to cut straight to it. ICON is not a good place to work and only worth the move if it's your last or only option. If you seek a place where you want to grow efficiently, have the chance to do great work backed by a solid and proven process, professionally organized, structured proficiently, and believes in the power of a healthy culture (or at least on its way to those things) this place is not it. Nor is it set up well to achieve them in the near future.
Don't let ICON's website fool you…it has been through so much transition in the past couple years that top leadership is poor, operationally it's a mess (there is little to no structure), the type of clients you see on the site are few and far between (only a small handful of accounts), and culturally it's very dry. It was surely a huge disappointment as I was initially sold into believing different. Beware if they sell you the same. Honestly, I'm not sure if senior management fully cares or understand how to really lead an agency successfully across the board. They turn a blind eye to the vision, mission and direction of the agency and put little to no focus on those important attributes. As a result, employees are left with weak, uninspiring and inexpressible visions of the company's future, with communication about the overall direction of the agency being extremely poor.
While there were a couple small victories, most things take a backseat as most weeks feel like an uphill battle just to get through the work and the messy organization of things. Even after others have sat down with leadership to voice frustrations, concerns and opinions, and truly wanting/trying to establish healthy ways to institute a great environment nothing ever comes from it. The team is ever evolving as they have a difficult time holding onto anyone because of these issues. Unfortunately, ICON operates on a day to day mindset without solid plans for the future, the overall work, it's processes, gaining new clients, and the general growth and morale of the team.
Frankly, there are many attributes here that I could continue to list, but I’m sure you’re getting the picture by now. The frustrations definitely out way the very few benefits. Good luck!
