Pros

It was a full time job in a creative industry which is hard to come by. The work is honestly amazing, and there are some truly life changing moments you can experience through it. Travel is a wonderful fringe benefit when it's not a disruption to your health and life.

Cons

An aggressive, sustained norm of refusing feedback and cultivating a "my way or the highway" culture with the management/leadership. I felt like negative reinforcement was employed to get optimal results out of workers, which is a recipe for burnout and resentment. Additionally, the creative staff is expected to travel often for client work but what isn't emphasized is that you had to front the money for expenses and get reimbursed afterward. In short, you're giving the company a zero interest loan to work. This is an unnecessary burden for employees that are financially vulnerable and it never felt like you could bring this up without being treated as a burden. It took a lot of people quitting/being fired for the company to actually make the effort to assist with this. Lastly, a lack of trust in employees led the owner to engage in some very abusive behavior with me. She used the company's legal resources to try to force me into some unethical work arrangements. I never felt more traumatized by an employer as I have with this company, and I finally have the clarity and peace of mind to be able to talk about this. I can say that if you need the paycheck and can hold your tongue to make sure it's secured, by all means work here. But a lot of the benefits don't weigh enough to offset the toxicity that sits underneath the company culture. I feel like this, among other external factors, is the company's weakest point.

Pros

If you're looking for work experience and are willing to work in an oppressive environment, you should join!

Cons

I worked at ImageThink for nearly 6 years and I hope my experience can help someone avoid a lot of stress, anxiety, and trauma. More specifically if you're a parent or a POC. As a parent, I found this workplace to be hostile and unsupportive toward parents. Perhaps its because the owner does not have children? Or because most of the workforce do not have children? When I worked here, I was prohibited from taking calls from my autistic son's school in the office, I was asked to have very personal and private conversations in very public hallways. Additionally, I was PTO to attend my son's EOY school performance because I submitted my request for less than 24 hours(but more than 12) in advance. If you're a self-respecting POC, I would urge you to look for other spaces that is more inclusive of POC. Every time I would bring up when and how I felt unsupportive and unsafe in the workplace, the owner just gaslighted me and made me feel like somehow, my needs were unreasonable. She was complicit in creating a workplace that was unsafe and mistreated POC's, more specifically black people. If you value healthy/supportive relationships, solidarity and kindness, you should not work here.
