It was really good but became a toxic place over time - Anonymous employee Immutable Employee Review

Pros

- Previously good compensation packages - Many really talented colleagues - Many really positive colleagues - Extraordinary engineers - Engineering challenges on IMX are rewarding and fun to work on - Good team spirit when not bullied by management - Amazing Sydney office - Values "as communicated" are good - Still a lot of nice perks - CEO sometimes seems to actually care (but has no time to be across all fires)

Cons

A lot of concerning things trickled in over the last year or so: - Morally questionable behaviour towards partners and employees - Communicated values are not upheld in daily operations - Key decisions are made behind closed doors without consulting the substance matter experts - "Lovingly speaking your mind" was appreciated and encouraged, now it gets punished - Studio has evolved into an own entity with toxic structures and behaviours imported from the AAA games industry - Questions and concerns regarding fundamental issues with Web 3 and crypto are met with hostility or condescending lectures without any substance - They hire executives and directors while the hands-on staff is left to crunch - Benefits are getting cut or quietly removed - The GU layoff was handled beyond poorly and shares are still a matter of dispute - The fact that a Senior and an Executive resigned simultanously (allegedly out of protest against those developments) was hidden from us for weeks - Caring, constructive and competent leaders have left, the teams are now in the hands of and at the mercy of unchecked toxic and reckless rulers + those who parrot them and abolish all independent thoughts. - HR and peoples team seem to be "silencer of concerns" instead of helping and empowering - Managers ask team members for "ammunition" against people they play their Game of Thrones against - Political battlefield

Pros

Really lovely people. Great work life balance, and interesting work.

Cons

In the crypto space, so reliant on the ups and downs of the industry. Lay offs were common despite making it sound like the company had years of runway to live through bear market conditions

Pros

If you like gambling, I guess this could be interesting. For the most part the everyday people are great.

Cons

Utterly confused company as it runs with lots of leaders, but accountability isn't really accepted at the top, nor is the strategy sound. Performs a number of layoffs, then weeks later has a parade of offsites flying people in from around the world to stay lavish, including highly expensive events. Lots of 'yes' methods with leaders despite very questionable product strategy. Probably the worst company i've worked at. Very private school bro culture.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback on your experience. We'd like to clarify a few points that you mentioned in your review. It seems there might be some confusion, as we are not a gambling company. We bring digital ownership to every player by making it safe and easy to build great web3 games. With regards to the layoffs, we know the restructuring earlier this year impacted the roles and lives of some of our employees, and we understand that this can lead to people feeling frustrated and saddened by these changes. Throughout this year, we have continued to invest heavily in the employee experience and in-person connection of our incredible Immutables globally, which is why we continue to hold company events and offsites. This has contributed to a huge engagement result of 81% in our recent global engagement survey, and we will continue to invest heavily in these areas. Our Engagement results also showed 87% confidence in Company leadership, which included the question of having a strategy and vision that was motivating. We are extremely confident in our Product strategy and our incredible team in Product, Engineering and Design. We also continue to invest in building a diverse and inclusive work environment. 28% of our Immutables are women or non-binary, which is above average for Web 3 and an engagement score of >80%, but we know we still have much more to accomplish here. If you have specific concerns related to our company culture, we would appreciate more details so we can address them appropriately. Thank you again for sharing your feedback, and we invite you to reach out to me, Kath Rau on kath.rau@immutable.com, to discuss your concerns in more detail.
