Pros

InkHouse is a terrific place to work. Most of the management are really smart people who are very experienced across the board. Beth (CEO) offers a warm and nurturing environment, but the uniqueness is in the annual "book" and 'Inkies' events (personal stories delivered in the form of a talk with support from an external editor). Mostly it's an emotionally healthy workplace (PR is PR) and most people are down to earth and approachable. Clients are mostly reasonable and problem clients are sometimes dealt with properly (50/50). Professional growth is yours to lose, CEO is openly opinionated (works for me but not for people w/ differing opinions) and incredibly smart. Benefits are pretty good, unlimited PTO and such are nice but very much monitored. Fast-paced, open and typically pleasant environment with a serious focus on company culture and really good work. Those reviewers that say otherwise have not worked at other agencies.

Cons

Too many people on pedestals who are definitely assets, but if you have an issue with one of those people, it's unlikely you'll feel comfortable raising it and that happens more than the executive team would like and knows of (nobody is THAT perfect). Not enough feedback in real-time even when sought. No matter what there are often surprises at review time. Promotions are VERY competitive (as in hard to reach). Regardless of "values," processes take up FAR too much time. Not enough diversity and the intense focus on diversity comes off kind of cringey (feels manufactured). CEO does her best to be transparent and people-oriented (and mostly succeeds) but some Covid-related moves were very questionable and felt panic-driven.

Pros

Positive in-office environment and perks Good PTO policy Encouraging managers that take time to listen to you

Cons

-Unsustainable workload and pace led to constant stress and burnout, leaving little time or space to produce high-quality work -Benefits were blatantly misrepresented during the interview process (e.g., “every other Friday off” was very much not a true day off, and number of in-office days were higher than stated right from the get go) -Minimal onboarding and support; assigned high-level projects immediately with unrealistic demands and expectations -Constant shifting priorities, excessive deadlines, and little consideration of existing workload made it extremely difficult to focus on any one task at a time. -Heavy reliance on Slack created a highly distracting work environment with pressure to constantly signal activity and respond to an excessive number of messages. -Lack of visibility into team workloads due to poor structure and management oversight. -Expectations to be available outside normal working hours. -Unclear promotion process and inconsistent internal communication. -In-office requirements felt unnecessary and inefficient given the nature of the work. -Limited opportunities for meaningful team connection; culture on all teams felt transactional, robotic, and impersonal. -Very few genuine connections and normal convos with people across teams. A little bit of respect and basic human connection would have gone a long way.
