Pros
At IOHK we are doing things that nobody has ever done before in ways that nobody has ever done them. Working here means we are using and developing cutting edge technology to be successful with teams comprised of some of the smartest people in their respective fields. We are all aligned towards our common goal of what success looks like and that is to change the world for the better. The salary is competitive and working hours are flexible along with often generous bonuses. Meetups and an annual company summit are also a very nice touch both for team building as well as sharing a collective vision of where we want to go and how we plan to get there. This has obviously been hampered due to the global pandemic but we still held our global summit virtually last year and it was a great success. If you are someone who loves to solve problems and embraces a challenge then IOHK just might be the place for you. :)
Cons
Shifting priorities can often mean a lot of high priority work streams happen in parallel which can put a strain on resourcing. This is already being tackled through further hiring and should be something we see less of. Working fully remotely can be a challenge for many who miss the social interaction that a traditional workspace offers. This is something we are trying to do better. We rely heavily on initiative here; if you are used to an environment where you need to be told exactly what to do in order to be successful then how we work may well be outside of your comfort zone. We sometimes experience crunch time coming up to major milestones; while this is not uncommon in software houses it is something we are keenly aware of and are trying to do better at.
