Pros

IST hires pretty much anyone, no college education is needed. The people you work with are interesting characters, and I say that in the best way possible. They will be some of the best people you will ever meet, and the most genuine. Once every month (sparatically), IST will provide paid afternoons off or paid lunches towards the top performers in the office. Everyday you get a 15 minute break every hour and leave by 3 p.m. on Fridays.

Cons

Bear with me, this may be a bit lengthy, but this should be noted when considering IST as a place of employment. IST states in all of their marketing they are a "no politics, fast growth environment", which is completely false. I repeat, do not believe a single word of that. IST makes most, if not all their decisions based off of favoritism of a project or team lead manager. Unless you are a cheerleader and scream out "GO IST" then don't expect to have much attention from upper management, or the president/CEO. This is most noticeable when it comes to discussions about salaries or issues within project. If you are at all a person who has integrity or values real, honest discussions, IST is not for you. If someone brings up a problem or an issue that they are facing in hopes to find a solution, one of two things will happen. A) get shrugged off and will say they are working on it (spoiler alert: they aren't working on it) or B) get fired. Maybe both. Let's talk money and job title itself. the real reason why you're probably on glassdoor looking for a job. In your interview process or any discussion with upper management, they will state you are going to be in a marketing position and make up to 60,000 dollars a year. I'm going to pull a Donald Trump here: WRONG. This is entirely a cold call center, which you will be "yelled/scolded" if you are not making enough calls or if you are not performing to the metrics they over promised to their clients. Unless you are the top 1% of the top performers in the office, you will not see 60,000 at all. You. are. paid. hourly. base. of approx. 12-13 dollars. Everything else comes from commission, unless you are lucky enough to be on a decent (what I really mean to say is easy) team, there will be times in which you do not get any commission. (Since we're being real here, sometimes when you even hit commission you may not receive it) That last statement is more towards the people who believe they are going into a marketing role. I know this may come to a shock to most of you reading this, in the end, this is a sales job. The argument can be made that you are 'telemarketing" but the end all be all of IST, if you don't hit your quota or not performing to the metrics they want, you will be on watch or fear for your job. IST is very quick to fire you on any premise they want. Most, if not all of the employees go into work with the mindset that today may be the last day for them at IST. This is mentioned in a lot of other reviews, but the high turnover rate is true. IST states they utilize all the top performing software, which is true. But they don't provide the correct training and they don't have any support tech positions on site. That being said, the common issues are no one knows how to even use the software or the software crashes frequently, in which you will be told to essentially "roll with the punches and deal with it" To wrap things up (because if I could go on and on about cons of IST, I'd have the length of a Harry Potter book) Everything is inconsistent and not at all structured. I know this is a very general statement, but for time sake and not to go into too much detail, just know that IST is a company in which everything is a clustermess (see what I did there?) and every word from upper management cannot be trusted. There is little to no job security and they say they will "promote" you, in reality will only raise your salary by .005% and hire all of the upper management positions outbound. IST has no genuine care for your career development. The CEO only cares about how much money he can profit in his own wallet.

Thank you for your feedback and review. I appreciate you sharing your experiences but I am sorry to hear it wasn’t a better experience. It’s great to hear that you loved the people. We agree that the people we work with are incredible. I am also glad to hear that you liked our daily schedule and events. You shared a lot of downsides and I’d like to share some things that we are doing differently based on your feedback - and the feedback of others before you that have passed along similar perspectives. A few months ago we stopped advertising a marketing position and have been focusing on the sales job title/description. We agreed with you that it could be confusing or misleading for people applying to work with us. Our intent, originally, was to talk to some really talented marketing majors that hadn’t considered a career in sales. But, we see now that even with this intention, it didn’t ultimately send the right message and some people felt tricked - definitely not good. We have taken those job titles off our website and other job boards. I also agreed with your feedback that we need to provide more training for all the technology that we use and provide more tech support. We are currently looking to hire additional sales operations roles to provide the technology support. For training, we have been working to see where our vendors can provide more training and then how we can craft that specifically for our internal use. At the end of March we are going to take at least 1 entire day out for some training - technology, sales skills, etc... - and hope to really start to build upon the technology we have in place with more of the support that you referenced was needed. You shared a lot of concerns about the way earning potential is presented. We have been reviewing and refining how we discuss compensation in our interviews. It’s really important that people have a clear and realistic understanding of our compensation packages. I’ve personally been sitting in on more interviews and discussing this scripting with our recruiter to ensure that we are staying fair and balanced in that presentation. That said, for now, we do offer a base + commission structure in our sales roles and that means that monthly and annual incomes can vary depending on sales production. Thank you again for your feedback and best of luck in your new role.

Pros

There are so many great reasons to work at this company that I don't have time to list them. Let me just say that this is the best job I've had in my career, and the best people I've ever worked with. I only left because I moved out of state and working remotely was too difficult. One of the best parts of the job was working in the office and being in the great environment that was created there. The work isn't easy, but it's rewarding. If you're willing to do the work and push yourself, management will work with you to make sure you're successful. But you have to do the work. Like any career, success isn't handed to you but if you're willing to dial the phone all day long (and there's a great break schedule to make sure you don't burn yourself out) you can do very well there. An exciting thing about this company is the clients they work with. You'll have the opportunity to work on some fun and exciting projects with some of the latest technology. You'll always be learning new things and getting exposed to some cutting edge stuff. Again, I mention the people I worked with. These are simply the best people you'll ever find in an office. I made some great friends there who I still call friends to this day. If you have the opportunity to work here, do so.

Cons

There are some days that are harder than others, and some projects that are tough as well. It's not really a con, just a hard fact. Put in the work, and the success will come.

Pros

The people here are simply amazing. Some of the best people I have ever worked with are here at this company. They were always lenient with schedules and what not. They have what they call a Sprint schedule. This is numerous 15 minutes breaks throughout the day. Technology is most definitely up to date and have some pretty cool tools at your disposal. They do some cool things to reward the top salespeople in the company. IST runs some pretty cool competitions and reward people with some cool prizes.

Cons

It's a sales environment. Sales environments are always tough. If you have never worked in one, expect alot of calling on the phone and emailing. They at least try to make it fun. Sales generally has a high turnover. This is also the case at IST. IST does a great job of rewarding it's top people. Don't forget to still reward the people who put in an effort every single day. I knew plenty of people at IST who maybe weren't the best at sales people but their effort was top notch. People with a top notch effort can really strengthen a team. I wouldn't overlook that aspect.
