Massive layoff recently; no job security here - Principal Insight Partners Employee Review

Pros

This place is a vacuum for anything good or true. It systematically destroys people's goodwill to make it every person for themselves.

Cons

Insight is the most toxic workplace I have ever worked in. Constant infighting, bullying, and racism. If you're not a white, straight, cis, able-bodied man, you have no chance to succeed. As soon as the new administration came into power, Insight took its first opportunity to fire its DEI team and get rid of all diversity programs. I have to stay for the benefits but do yourself a favor and find a place that actually values its people. The fund did a big layoff recently that they're trying to hide from the press. Some of my most talented senior colleagues were let go with no warning. And, comp is not keeping pace with market despite recent fundraises. Don't think that managing billions of dollars puts the firm on stable financial footing. It's not in a good place, and I've seen some of the best people become collateral damage. I can't believe the rate of turnover I've seen the last few years. The people who are left with me are not the type of people you want to spend time around.

Pros

There are a handful of smart, hardworking colleagues who do their best to survive the chaos. Working with them was often the only bright spot in an otherwise dysfunctional environment.

Cons

The company engaged in massive over hiring in 2022 with no real plan for how to use employees’ skills effectively. Managers with little to no experience were pushed into leadership roles and provided no training or support. Toxic behavior was routinely ignored, and in some cases rewarded. HR complaints about bullying, especially toward women, were brushed aside, and one such individual was later promoted. Reorganizations were constant but rarely had any real strategy or execution behind them. The organization was weighed down by layers of middle managers with weak technical skills, which led to cut throat infighting as people scrambled to “own” projects and remain relevant. The org chart lacked accountability, and my direct manager made no effort in my final year there to provide guidance or show interest in my work. On top of this, the company has gone through multiple rounds of layoffs over the past year, further eroding morale and trust. Ultimately, it has become a toxic environment driven more by politics and self-preservation than by genuine leadership or collaboration.
