Cons

HR is absolutely horrible, they’re hardly hr and mostly recruiters who just utilize their AI software to do mass hiring New management (cs manager and the promoted team leads), are truly bad at their jobs. They don’t provide any support, there’s no one on ones, the manager and team leads are silent half the time. If you do get to talk to the manager she just complains about how tired she is and then overworks us all by not paying attention to how many days we work in a row and the hours. The management before was so competent so kind and supportive to now be left with incompetency. The team is no longer unified. Everyone works as an individual and the overall team experience is bad. The management team for CS all needs to be replaced immediately. If you’re a new hire don’t expect to be trained accordingly. They’ll pair you up with someone overseas, the manager just refers back to the former team manager and says “well what would she do? Just do that then” just horrible leadership. She’s kind but that’s it. The cofounders do not make smart decisions either and are all about growth with no plan resulting in disorganized launches and further burnout. If you’re underperforming or if anything comes up don’t expect to have a meeting. Expect to be terminated and locked out of your accounts with a very generic and unempathic email from the hr “manager” and if you are applying don’t expect the cs manager to respond to you in a timely manner, she probably forgot about to email you back and hired one of her friends again.

Pros

The customer service representatives are great to work with! Remote work is a plus.

Cons

The customer service management is extremely toxic but gets away with bullying and micromanaging the entire team through playing politics. CS Management set up a system that screenshots everyone every 3 minutes and I get so paranoid about stepping away to fill my water or go to the washroom. This is so hypocritical because CS management is always going on breaks and vacations and turning down any of the team’s requests for customer support escalations. CS Management’s only skill is taking credit for everyone’s work. CS Management questions why you are not working when you could have been on a bathroom break and it feels like an extreme invasion of privacy and is very stressful. The turnover rate is so high due to the customer service teams poor management yet CS management blames low compensation instead of taking responsibility for their lack of leadership and professionalism. Several employees quit because of CS managements bullying but are too scared to say anything in fear of retaliation. CS management constantly violates employee confidentiality by gossiping about team members and their personal/medical records in social settings. CS management constantly criticizes and bad mouths other teams/team managers including the founder Derek for their incompetence (ex: CS management always says others don’t deserve their job/compensation compared to CS management. Until the leadership acknowledges that the customer service management behaviour is unacceptable and inappropriate (and fires them), this will never be a healthy place to work. P.S. From past experience and observations, they will likely deny and deflect anything mentioned here to avoid responsibility.
