Pros

Looking back about two years ago, this was a wonderful place. I met some of the best people and hardest workers. Great unity and exciting outlook. Lots of growth and potential. Great benefits, ok pay, and a product vision I could get behind. Then it all went down in flames.

Cons

I've sat on this review for months so readers will know this comes from a place of reflection and logic, instead of emotions. What has happened to Formstack in the past year+ is akin to the business downfall stories you hear on podcasts and watch on Netflix. What was once a strong and capable culture and company is now a mere sham. They've killed the culture, removed many of the benefits that made up for the uncompetitive pay, put in place leaders who are very poor at strategy and people management, and continue to act like everything is just fine. Everything is not "just fine" when you raise $425 million then 18 months later layoff 40% of your staff. I had such an affinity for this org for so long, and never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined my experience would involve all that it did in the last year. What a very sad story that continues to get worse as time goes by.

Pros

There are some talented individuals across the team, and you can learn quickly due to the fast-paced nature of the environment.

Cons

This was the most stressful experience I’ve had in my entire career. The company goes through constant changes and layoffs every couple of months, which creates a sense of ongoing instability and uncertainty. Employees are expected to be working nonstop, essentially on call at all hours, every day. “Unlimited PTO” is meaningless in practice, as you end up working during your time off anyway. Decisions are frequently made without proper data, research, or input from the people actually doing the work. This leads to inefficiencies, frustration, and a lack of direction. There is little to no regard for employee well-being, and the environment can feel hostile at times. Expectations are extremely high and often unrealistic given the resources and support provided. The pace is not sustainable, and the compensation does not come close to justifying the level of pressure. Overall, there is a lack of structure, strategy, and respect for employees’ time and contributions.
