Pros

Apart from higher than market rate salary there aren’t many positives... what needs to be said about the salary is that although it’s higher than elsewhere, you’re so snowed under you’re having to work round the clock and there’s no such thing as paid overtime. Based on the number of hours you actually work, the hourly rate is not much higher than that of, say, a cleaner...

Cons

Where do I start? Staff turnover rate is through the roof! Without exaggerating there have been 200 people come and go since the company started less than 10 years ago... to the point that they had to poach employees from their main competitor and you will now see 75% of managers have come from ClearSky Accouning and they’ve been bribed with higher salaries and promises of progression. Everyone is under an immense amount of pressure and there doesn’t ever seem to be any praise from the management for jobs well done. It might be because the management sets completely unrealistic targets and so when someone actually works 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to reach that target, the management deem that to be part of that person’s role to reach set targets, therefore no praise is necessary... it’s all very disheartening! Employees are constantly disrespected, there’s a horrible atmosphere in the office and office politics are the worst I’ve ever seen (and I’ve worked for a number of accounting firms in my days). Training new staff is carried out by incompetent assistants/semi seniors so work is never carried out to a high standard, in fact it’s all very below standard in this profession. Simple tasks take weeks to complete, even when the matter is urgent, for example a mortgage reference or visa reference is required to ensure that a client’s family is allowed to remain in the country with them... It’s really sad to see really. Managers don’t seem to be able to cope with the amount of work so cherry pick the tasks depending on whichever is easiest at the time, not whichever is the most urgent. The advice the managers are told to give to their clients is borderline tax evasion, although they still call it ‘tax planning’. To summarise, I wouldn’t recommend you join this company as an employee unless you want to be brain washed into believing you’re worthless and you want your ambitions crushed. I also wouldn’t recommend you join this company as a client as the accounting (and most importantly tax) advice is very low quality. You’ve been warned and you join at your own risk.

Intouch Accounting Response

Employee satisfaction is at the core of our business because we recognise that success comes from investing in our people and creating a professional, progressive and enjoyable workplace. With Intouch under new ownership (following the successful sale of the business in January 2018) we have an improved and more supportive management structure in place, focused on nurturing our amazing talent. All employees have their own training and development plan, designed to address their individual workplace needs, and giving them the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver their part of the valuable service we offer to our clients. New management proactively supports a healthy work life balance and many employees also enjoy flexible working arrangements. Our staff retention has improved considerably since the beginning of the year and we’ve seen many people who work for our competitors make enquiries about career opportunities within our business. We’re proud of the positive impact we have on people’s careers and this is reflected in our office atmosphere. With a strong sense of camaraderie, social events are frequently organised by staff and funded by the company. This all continues to fuel Intouch’s impressive growth story, evidenced by our customers who, year after year, continue to trust our staff with their accountancy and tax requirements.

Pros

I love that customer service is top of the agenda at Intouch; it makes my job as a marketer a pleasure as I genuinely believe that we're the best in the market. The team are great - fun but hard working and alll working towards the same goals. Having recently joined the Brookson Group, we now have the extra backing to support our future growth plans, and our employee benefits have been enhanced too. With extra professional development support available now, I feel that there are real opportunities for career progression here.

Cons

You wouldn't want to work here if you're not happy to take responsibility for your own output. It's a small/medium sized business that's punching above its weight so everyone's performance matters (and is recognised).

Pros

I love the culture at Intouch, everyone really pulls together to drive the business and the board actually listen to opinions and ideas, which is nice. Things like the global incentive scheme that rewards all staff for company growth confirm the belief that the success of the company is contributed to by everyone. The recent acquisition by Brookson has just added to the excitement and buzz in the office and the future looks good!

Cons

Staff turnover has been an issue historically but this seems to have settled now with a really strong team in place to drive the business forward.
