Pros

It can be fun delivering packages.

Cons

Management at Intrepid is very unprofessional and lacks integrity. Pay is based on “performance” which ranges between 20 to 23 dollars an hour. Standard rate for a step van driver is 23 in Livermore but to cut costs intrepid delivery cuts your pay based on performance. So as a step van driver you’re really only making possibly 21. They promised 23 to step van drivers after Amazon raised package counts but took it away with this performance score card. They forced every driver to go into step vans which means we deliver more packages, harder routes, and harder to meet sometimes unrealistic performance requirements. The current main dispatcher is very aggressive. Leaves early doesn’t help the team and blames others for mistakes he’s in charge of. He has threatened many drivers of being fired. And creates a very toxic work environment for drivers and his fellow dispatchers. One performance requirement is finishing your route before 8 hours. Per Amazon requirements each route is allotted 10 hours this allows drivers to take legally 2 15 min. Breaks and a 30 min. Lunch. However one of the requirements from intrepid is to finish your route in 8 hours unless you get docked for performance. This means No ONE is taking breaks! It’s impossibly to finish these routes in 8 hours taking your breaks and lunch. So many don’t. When people don’t take breaks pay roll essentially forces drivers to sign a form saying you willingly didn’t take your 30 min lunch and breaks.

Pros

Pay is ok but there is no stated increases with performance. Hours guaranteed but deliberately limited to prevent OT

Cons

Safety is preached but not practiced. Most of the vans are standard cargo vans where packages will slide around, fall over and routinely fall/slide towards or into the driver compartment. They have some dedicated delivery vans with proper patricians and selves but those require a DOT rating and you do not get any kind of additional pay for the additional rating. Work-Life balance is non-existent Pacing of work is biased against you the driver, there is cameras in the vans monitoring you for safety and traffic violations which is fine but you will be "reviewed" for going too slow because you're being safe. Most others unplug the cameras to complete their routes on time so their metrics show up as 100% performance and 100% safety but only because they're not being caught by unplugging the camera. No incentive for actually being a safe driver and following the rules.
