Pros

The only positive was the people I was working with day to day. We cared for each other and tried to make our experience better.

Cons

Where do I begin. It has been a huge shame to feel the way I have after leaving this organisation. To start with all the positive reviews on here were mostly during a 2-3 year period where the CEO of the company changed and that was when I also joined. Things were going pretty well and we were asked by HR to write reviews on Glass door to push up the ratings seeing as the company was moving in a really good direction and everyone was happy. Then things started going downhill. The way we were being treated changed. Everyone was expected to be in the office from Monday to Friday 9-6 with no exceptions. That’s when we noticed the CEO has changed without it being official. The old management came back and took charge. Nearly all the progress that was achieved in the past 3 years was undone in the space of a few months. Promises were broken and the same things that people complained about years ago started to repeat. No talking in the office, everyone has to wear smart clothes (including creatives like video editors). You are constantly being watched and if you leave at 6 it means you are not serious. Higher management will come down before the day ends and you end up staying hours after. I was shouted at in a meeting and was spoken to like a child by one of the senior staff. It was a horrid toxic environment. But most of all, it was the simple things that they couldn’t get right. Like paying people on time or even having the decency to inform you that your pay will be late. Such things had an impact on my personal financial stability with bills coming out and not knowing if I will be paid on time to cover them. It started because they were going through financial difficulties which was meant to last a month or two and ended up lasting over 6 months (until I decided to leave). We would get paid some of our salary a week late the the rest much later in the month. Our pensions were not being paid and we had to chase for them. Simple expenses do not get paid (I am still waiting for mine from March). But they expect you to be on time to work every day and if you’re late then that gets deducted from your salary. The other problem is that the mentality of higher management is that since they are paying our salary, then they own us. We feel like slaves. We feel like we have no rights. We don’t have sick pay or any other benefits whatsoever. But you are expected to work to high standards and quality. Overall the experience started off well however it took a sharp dive. Like a plane that suddenly took a nose dive and crashed. The reason I am being so honest and blunt is that people need to be weary of this company and understand what they are going into before they do. The brand is Islam Channel but it is far far away from the teachings of Islam and how Muslims should be.
