The biggest problem I see is bad management. Unorganized, unprofessional, chaotic, inexperienced management. - Barista Java Detour Employee Review

Pros

Nice atmosphere, kind employees, free coffee... I enjoyed some of my time working here, and I feel like the people are basically very cool. I had an enjoyable time interacting with the customers, and also, some of the employees were very kind and consistent.

Cons

Very chaotic management style, schedule mess, terrible training, inconsistency among employees ways of doing things, hurtful and attacking feedback style. The inability to rely on almost any consistency in the management was very difficult for me while working here. I was cursed at by management, and treated as if I were an idiot, when I didn't know how to do things I was NEVER trained to do. This was the theme of my time at Java Detour, and I unfortunately wouldn't suggest this workplace to anyone I am friends with.

Pros

The regular customers were my favorite part of the job. NOTHING ELSE

Cons

Horrible pay, favoritism, BAD MANAGEMENT, horrible owner RON SANDS, no advancement, dead end job, owner took away raises from long term employees. The manager likes to bring her personal life drama into work and make everyone uncomfortable and talks badly about employees behind their backs and to other employees, which always gets around. There is no professionalism at all, and the manager also does not appreciate her employees. She won't fire you (because the owner wont let her, for fear of unemployment benefits) so she gives employees the least amount of hours possible until that employee decides to quit. LACK of communication. Some employees work harder than others while the lazy one's don't get any sort of accountability for their actions. AWFUL work atmosphere, in the summer it is never cooler than 98 degrees because the owner refuses to buy a new AC unit. I can't believe I stayed with that company for so long. If you want to work an easier, barista job, I would suggest dutch bro's where the owner actually appreciates his employees, with bonuses and raises.
