Pros
Most of the Partners and Associates are great people who are easy to work with. This can be a little hit and miss at the company, but I happened to do most of my work with really good colleagues. Relative to most recruiting firms, there was a refreshing focus on maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I really can't emphasize enough how fantastic it was to discover this for the first time.
Cons
Some of my colleagues at the Associate had been with the company for 5+ years, and they hadn't seen any upward movement within the organization. These were good, reliable, hardworking people who were effectively executing their responsibilities, but they still weren't moving up. The work itself was some of the most mind numbing work I've ever done, which is sort of what comes along with the recruiting. The real downside came in that Associates aren't financially rewarded for this work like they are at most recruiting firms. It's possible that things have changed since I was there, but Jobplex had no commission in place when I worked there. Some Partners would buy you lunch or give you some small token for helping them makes tens of thousands of dollars by placing a candidate, but that's it. This was especially jarring since the Partners I worked with never did any actual recruiting. 100% of their work was focused on bringing in new business for which they would receive 100% of the reward, but then they wouldn't do any of the work required to successfully execute on the contracts they signed.
