I worked at Kindercare full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Children are amazing to see learn and grow. The staff who care really care and are a great team for the children's education.

Cons

Low pay. Micromanagement and constant changes in classroom and center regulations. It's less about the children and more about the profits. Horrible teachers who are on their phones all day and cruel to children keep their job with no worries. All upper management cares about is FTEs and keeping payroll to a minimum and it's more about making money than caring for children.

Advice to Management

Respect your employees and stop overworking and underpaying them. This causes you to lose good degreed employees who want to stay for the children but can't because the negatives overwhelm the positives.

I worked at Kindercare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Smaller infant classrooms, supportive director and assistant director, involvement from families . I wish I had more positive things to add but like my title states, I have worked in worse places.

    Cons

Hours cut due to low enrollment , the staff is punished because of this and it's near impossible to make ends meet when you barely make 500$ a week. The childcare discount is more generous compared to local centers that so not offer an employee discount, however the tuition is still expensive when you are unable to work a 40 hour work week.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved in the classrooms. I am confused as to what the center directors actually do on a daily basis since the corporation is such a big governing agency.

I worked at Kindercare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some really great people worked here at at various points in time. The Friday after thanksgiving is a paid holiday.

    Cons

Overall outlook for this company is very poor.

Executives micro-manage their VP's and below.

Benefits and pay are below average.

Some departments work 6-7 days a week.

The company dictates when you will use 1 week of vacation per year.

The company contributes less and less to healthcare benefits every year. Driving up employee costs. For a family it is currently less expensive to use Healthcare.gov than to use KU healthcare plan.

Annual pay increases are below state average.

    Advice to Management

Take your buyout money, retire, let real leaders take over.
