Pros
Working 1:1 with children, building rapport, seeing them progress to independence as months pass by. I loved my BCBAs. Although supervision is such a small chunk in a month, they were great supporters. They understood my frustrations and knew why I left the company.
Cons
Mileage reimbursement is a joke, they had me commute so far. The trick is they reimburse you only from client A to client B and Scheduling will find a way to have you commute 20 miles from your home to client A to commute to client B which is only 5 miles away. Client cancellations and reimbursement. I would commute far ways just to get cancelled on at the door and when speaking to Scheduling they wouldn't even consider reimbursing me for my time to get there and drive back home. Pay/wages. Pay is considerably low for all staff in my honest opinion. Compensation/benefits are only for full-time which is rare as a BT/RBT especially if you are just starting out in the field. Benefits mainly go towards Schedulers, IT, BCBAs, etc. Scheduling department will do anything to extend your availability even after you set clear boundaries. Sessions from 4PM-8PM are very popular during the school year so they need people to fill those positions. I worked late hours with a huge gap in between which led to burn-out and poor work/life balance. There is no work/life balance in the field of ABA unless you put your foot down.
