Pros

Working here as a direct support professional has shown me what it really means to be part of a team. This isn't a job where you clock in and go it alone — every single day, my coworkers and I lean on each other. The teamwork here is genuine. When a shift gets tough, someone always steps up. When a client has a breakthrough, we celebrate it together. There's a real sense of shared purpose — everyone understands that the people we support deserve consistency, compassion, and the very best we can offer, and that only happens when we work as a unit. What sets this organization apart is that collaboration isn't just encouraged from the top — it's lived out by the people doing the work every day. My fellow DSPs bring patience, creativity, and heart to every shift, and knowing I'm not alone in this work makes all the difference. Leadership supports that culture by listening, communicating openly, and making sure we have what we need to do our jobs well together. I'm proud to be part of a team that takes this work seriously and takes care of one another in the process. If you're looking for a place where teamwork is more than a buzzword — where it's the foundation of everything you do — this is it.

Cons

Shifts can be demanding and coverage is sometimes tight, but the team genuinely has each other's backs, which makes a hard day manageable.

Pros

The people we support are honestly the best part of this job. They are funny, real, full of personality, and they will make you care about coming to work in a way that is hard to explain until you experience it. Beyond that, the people I work alongside every day are solid. They know their stuff, they communicate, and when things get complicated — and sometimes they do — you don't feel like you're out there alone. What really sets LADD apart though is leadership that actually shows up. Not just at the big events, but in the day-to-day. And for three years running, upper management has handed their own bonuses back to Direct Support Professionals. I want to let that sink in — their personal bonuses, redistributed to increase our bonuses. In a field where DSPs are routinely undervalued everywhere you look, that kind of decision is extraordinary. It tells you more about an organization's character than any mission statement ever could.

Cons

Communication between upper management and families and staff could be more consistent. There are times when information feels siloed, and getting timely responses through the right channels can take longer than it should. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's an area where the day-to-day experience doesn't always match the genuine care that leadership clearly has for the organization.
