Pros

I met a handful of decent people and the software is pretty cool if you know how to use it.

Cons

This is a rotten organization from top to bottom. Lakeside suffers from two problems: 1. The character and quality of management is the worst I've ever encountered. They don't care about actually building a team or evolving. All they care about is selling licenses, whatever it takes. This is a private equity company that was purchased from the original owner and in my opinion has a limited shelf life. Their marketspace is quickly shrinking with key players like VMware entering it. It always felt like they were trying to push as much product out the door knowing that their clock was ticking. Some of the uppper management were the worst people I've ever worked with in terms of employee interactions and approach. They are known for burn-and-turn staff without warning. Knowing this, people have either left ahead of time or were unceremoniously fired on a whim. I believe it got so bad for some that they encountered medical issues because of their jobs. 2. The second big problem is the constant sense of dissatisfaction at lower levels. Morale is pitiful. It felt like few actually cared about their jobs or delivering what was reasonably expected. The skill level among technical staff varied from excellent to barely there. This was and probably is a terrible place to work. Steer clear.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. We agree that our software is “pretty cool!” Lakeside is led by a seasoned leadership team and backed by one of the top VC firms in the world. Over the past year, we've continued to innovate and differentiate ourselves in the market through our depth, breadth, and history of data. We've also invested in several people-focused initiatives, which has led to higher employee retention and a stronger #LakeLife culture. Feel free to reach out directly if you’d like to discuss your experience further. - Suzie Anthony, Chief People Officer

Pros

I had been a customer of Lakeside Software from 2013-2021 before joining their ranks as a full time employee in March of 2021. The SysTrack software is second to none when it comes to monitoring systems (Windows PC, Mac Linux) on both physical sytems. As a Lakeside employee, I found that the work/life balance is second to none, the company treats employee like a large family. and everyone collaborates and supports each other. In short, the work experience is extremely satisfying.

Cons

The software is complex, and can be a bit daunting because of the massive amount of data it collects. But, their support you'll receive is amazing as their Customer Success and Support Engineers are highly skilled and always willing to lend a hand.

Pros

If you are on the last leg of your sales career, and are not looking to work real hard or be micro-managed, this place may be for you. The company pays well & treats their employees fairly

Cons

The company was great for a few years, big emphasis on GTM. However, within the past 8 months, leadership has changed and the there is zero direction from executive leadership. There is a non-existing marketing team at Lakeside. It is a rotating door of CMO's and there is zero brand awareness about the product. The company is not a leader in the space, and the competition has their number on numerous things. They are only focused on enterprise customers, and deal cycles can stretch 10 to 12 months with zero pipeline development. Essentially ONE deal will make or break you. The sales organization has no clear visibility from the top down, and no one understand the goal or vision for the company. On top of this, there is a massive amount of challenges with getting the product to do what is advertised, many times you would run into a POV or demo, where the product simply does not work. There is no growth opportunities in the sales organization if you are a younger seller & looking to grow a career.
