Pros

The people are the biggest "pro". What drew to me this place years ago was the warm and friendly staff, and it stood out to me how happy everyone seemed to be here. There are so many positive changes that have happened in the last 5 years all to improve the academic program, make students and families experience better and to take care of and appreciate staff. Truly is a wonderful place to work and I enjoy coming in every day.

Cons

Our students have very complex profiles so it requires so much work, and planning to meet their needs. The work spills outside of school hours, but because we all want the best for the kids. This sometimes means compensation feels low for the work put in.

Pros

Hugely positive workplace culture - everyone genuinely cares about what they're doing. I feel very supported by supervisors and coworkers alike. Much better salary than similar AA positions in the area right now.

Cons

Very few. Days can get hectic, but that's to be expected at a school - and as stated above, everyone does their best to support each other.

Pros

Working in the Transition Dept here at LPS, you have a chance to help high school students gain experiences they may not outside of school. We work on executive functioning, independent living skills, employment training and financial literacy. Being a member of your team within the high school building, you are able to collaborate with many staff. The seniors you work with go to work and participate in experiences in the community setting with you by their side to foster said experiences. Come ready to work and you will see what a special program we are here at LPS and how we work together as a whole school team to work on the whole child and what their path to success looks like! I have been here 17 years, worked in a few different roles and I have been happy and excited to tell people where I work and what I do! Also there is an onsite daycare for staff which all of my children have attended and loved!

Cons

The pay could be more competitive
