Pros

There were individual teams where all was well.

Cons

I would advise anyone with other options to consider long and hard before joining Liberis. Try to find out what the staff turnover, expectations and working culture are like in the team you are applying to and what will happen to your role and the business if the 2023 target isn’t met. Senior management had a clear vision but seemed disconnected from realities on the ground. They would talk about the importance of avoiding burnout while some parts of the business had punishingly long working hours, complete lack of recognition and constant staff turnover, both voluntary and involuntary. In 2023 things got a lot more tense, with an ambitious target not everyone thinks is possible, yet another round of redundancies and a panic-stricken company value “Act like time is running out”.

We appreciate your open and honest feedback on your experience at Liberis. You reference one of the Liberis Behaviours in your response, so you’ll be aware that we are driving a culture where our people ‘communicate directly’ every day and that we value different opinions and perspectives. We recognise the importance of alignment between our intentions and our actual practices. We are a scaling business, in a competitive market, with an ambitious set of goals, and the behaviours we have defined reflect that. ‘Act like time is running out’ is intended to demonstrate the need for us to move fast and think big, and prioritising where we focus our time is key to this. Equally, by calling out the need for ‘empathy always’ we recognise that that needs to come with flexibility and an understanding of individual circumstances. We are sorry to hear that your experience at Liberis was not consistent with this. As our business scales and the market evolves, we also need to make sure that we review how we are organised and that we have the capabilities we need to set ourselves up for success, now and in future. Where this may lead to changes in structures and roles, and individuals making the decision to move on, we understand this can create uncertainty. Retaining our talented people is critical to our success and, with that in mind, we track our employee turnover against monthly targets and understand and act on reasons for leaving, as well as acting on feedback from our people via our quarterly engagement survey. We are always willing to chat if you have any further feedback to share, you can contact me directly or one of the team at people@liberis.com. VP People, Culture & Talent @ Liberis

Pros

Smart and supportive colleagues, strong learning environment, and good exposure to underwriting and fintech operations. The role gives you real responsibility and helps build commercial judgment quickly. There are opportunities to develop skills, work with interesting merchants, and gain experience in a fast-moving business.

Cons

The pace can be demanding, and workloads can feel heavy during busy periods. Priorities can shift quickly, which sometimes creates pressure and makes it harder to maintain balance. Some processes could be more streamlined, and communication across teams can occasionally be inconsistent.
