Even with all the positives, the pay is really awful and almost downright unfair and demoralizing. It takes a lot of work to grow accounts, gain business and when you are new it takes a good year to get up and on your feet. They only guarantee you for 3 months and you are in training for one month of that. Anyone who’s spent any decent time in sales knows a 3 month guarantee isn’t fair and isn’t setting you up for success. The companies own trainers, managers and recruiters even say that. Then, the base salaries they offer are LOW. And you have to hit 80% of you goal to get any commission, it’s capped on the month, they take it back if you don’t make the quarter either. Now, you CAN make great money and that is how they sell the job to you, but more people don’t make the quarter than those that do. So even though you’ve worked your tail off, brought new business in, grew existing accounts, managed your accounts, you still won’t be rewarded for it. They think they are motivating you to make your goal but all they are doing is creating fear. I’m not sure this is a long term sustainable plan for anyone who’s used to make serious money and is a good AE. Only making decent money once a quarter and more realistically, you won’t make it every quarter, most of us can’t sustain that. As much as I love everything else offered at the company, if you can’t make money you have to move on no matter how much you like it.
