Pros

Amazing individuals to work with Crazy amount of hours

Cons

Staff are underpaid for this type of work They don’t value their employees People are overworked Administration and directors play favorites with staff There’s a reason why they have a high turnover rate They don’t properly train everyone They care more about the company’s “image” to the state than their treatment of staff and quality of care and support they are supposed to be providing

Pros

The main pro of working here is the job itself. It is rewarding to make a difference in people's lives. The pay is reasonable for a starting position, the health insurance and dental insurance is affordable. The work can be easy if you're someone who is patient and empathetic. It can also be very enjoyable as you'll be getting paid to do many fun things with the people you support. You do get paid for mileage if you need to use your personal vehicle and they will pay for your EZ pass if you need to go through tolls.

Cons

Upper-management is the main con of working here. If you have a good director that can keep your program in check and out of the hands of them, then you'll be okay but if not, you'll suffer. They do not care about your availability and are unwilling to be accommodating. There is zero room for negotiation if they wish to change your hours or schedule. You either have to find a way to make it work or leave. Their only concern is saving money whether it's at the expense of you, the employee or the people supported. HR is useless, whatever concerns you bring to their attention, they'll either completely ignore your e-mails (never respond) or give a non-response answer to dismiss your grievances. They will always side with the higher-ranking employee (management) no matter how wrong they are. They do not pay out their PTO so I advise you take as many days off as you possibly can without consequence. Call out often. Your hard work and dedication will go unnoticed so outside of at the expense of the supported individuals, do the absolute bare minimum if you work here because it will get you nowhere. You will be punished for speaking up for yourself or for the supported individuals so either keep quiet and ignore the wrongdoing or leave. There is strong favoritism. Certain employees who are somehow friends or related to upper-management in some way will get anything they want and their policies are not applied equally across the board. 401K is offered but unlike many companies they do not match any contributions.
