Pros
- Really nice NY studio setting. - Work is generally high end, artists generally top in industry. - Department heads are good people. - Paid on time.
Cons
- Culture of not valuing staff. The best people are always leaving MPC NY. - Client expectations are really poorly managed by top brass a lot of the time. Their demands are nearly always met to the detriment of the artists and producers. - Which leads to artists and producers put under incredible stress to meet unrealistic deadlines. It's completely the norm for projects to pass their deadlines. - This then means you're usually expected to work late, and on big jobs on weekends. - The environment cultivated by top brass for producers to work in is very nasty at times too. You can expect to hear horrible things said to people openly sometimes. - 3D don't have the best structure for learning paths for juniors/runners. They're expected to be able to do anything asked of them, so mentorship to train for a specific role they have to seek out on their own. - Really small and slow upward progression for artists. Not a place to be if you consider yourself ambitious. Usual pay rises I'd seen is every 2 years or so, by 3-5%. Basically covering inflation. - Very slow build up of vacation hours.
